Whereas, Said armed force proceeded to JohoRon county and there murdered two of our citizens in cold
blood and burnt their homes and endeavored to intimidate and drive frera their homes, other Ijona fidt settlers of this
state and destroy their property: and
Whereas,
All appeals to the state authorities were of no avail: and
Whereas,
An appeal of said invaders was promptly responded to, and Federal troops Bent to their assisUnce:

Whereas, ^he agents of said invaders have succeeded in spiriting out of this gUle the only eye witnesses to •
the murder and arson committed: and
WiiKKKAs, We believe that at thia time a movement is on foot, by our highest officials, to declare martial law
in said Johnson county with a view to furnish desperadoes and cut-throats, with United Sutes marshal's oomraiesions, in
order to consummate the thorough desolation of that portion of our stole by that means, having failed in their purpose
by the overt act of invasion: and
Whereas.' It has come to this in Wyoming: Shall the public land of the United States be reserved for the act
ual settler, and shall he be protected in hia settlement upon said lands, or shall large cattle associations monopolize said
lands, trampling upon the rights of the settlers. Now, therefore, be it
Resolved: That we, the citizens of Uasper, Natrona county, in mass meeting assembled, do uncompromisingly
denounce the action of the .said members of said Stock Grower’s Association and Board of Stock Commission, the action
of the high oflici.iis of the state in eouiitciianciiig and defending an unwarranted violation of our constitution by allowing, unhindered, said armed force to invade our state, kill our citizens, burn our homes and destroy aud confiscate our
property, and

Resolved: That we deem the attempt to declare martial law in a peaceable and law abiding community, an an- .
warranted injustice and contempt for our institutions, and therefore

Resolved: That we appeal to our president and both bouses of congress, that a commission be immediately ap
pointed to enquire into the present difficulties in our state with a view to adjusting the same, and
Resolved: That a copy of these resolutions be sent to the lion. Dan Voorhees, Senator from Indiana, to the
Hon. C. W. Stone, of Pennsylvania, and Hon. Jerry Simpson, of Kansas, with a request that they ask congress to inquire
into the contemplated declaration ot martial law in the State of Wyoming; By what warrant or authority of law state
prisoners are held by Federal troops and to ask for all correspondence between the Governor of Wyoming and the War
Department in regard to calling out Federal troops to suppress a state affair when the state had competent militia, and, the
promiscuous issuing of Deputy United States Marshal’s commissions.

This record group contains meeting minutes, notes, programming, correspondence, photographs, and a few newspaper clippings used for the purpose of the 1987 Cas[er College Class Reunion. Materials were created or otherwise used by the Casper College Foundation and Alumni Association and the Colleg Relations Department. Researchers will find an address recalling the life and times of the 1935 graduating class titled, "A Different World, but in Many Ways the Best of Times," read by Agatha Bast Ledin. Also included is a "Meet the 1947-1948 Thunderbirds" program. There are 103 photographic prints. Individuals photographed include Dr. LeRoy Strausner and Bill Landen. Other photographs show the reunion celebration, class photographs, some classroom learning, and an early College Cafeteria crew. Materials date from approximately 1947 to 1987.
