Rufus Rahodes owned the 07 ranch, it was also a road ranch,
catering to people traveling "on the road".My mother said
she has seen "Cattle Kate" (Ella Watson, who assumed the
name Kate Maxwell - later hanged) there and she was rather
oretty and well conducted. (My mother and father lived for
a short time at the 07 on their arrival in Wyoming)
The well, dug for water in the center of Bessemer was dry
so water had to be hauled from the Noteh Platte River.
Also the "oil well" promoted by Charlie Peterson was dry
It apparently went only a few hundred feet.(bailings from
the well are still visible June 3, 1973) (85 years later)
I still have deeds to Blackmores for Bessemer lots.
Kamon bought tax deed, leased suface to Snodgrass for 25
yeaas, he farms it. I leased from t*Saigon2C for oil 1969
along with some 10,000 acres
The sardine cans - remained until Snodgrass cleared the
land and started farming it about 1965 - he was quite
pleases to read this article of their origin - there were MANY.
Hazel Peterson, the author , is grand daughter of Charles
Peterson and in 1954 was a geologist for Seaboard Oil CO.,
in Dallas, Texas.
Peterson promoted the well amogg friends in Ogallala add
Omaha, Neb.

An account of the resource
Itemized lists of the contents of Robert David's scrapbooks for the purpose of navigating the collection. The Robert “Bob” B. David Collection consists of 50 dismantled scrapbooks that cover a wide range of topics about Wyoming and the American West from prehistoric times to the mid-twentieth century. Several scrapbooks were dedicated to David’s investigation and research of the 1897 “Hole-in-the-Wall Fight” and the Johnson County War, which include interviews with the prominent and local individuals involved. Early scrapbooks feature David’s research about the Dinwoody and Castle Garden areas of Wyoming. Research notes, proofs, and drafts of two of Robert David's best-known books, "Malcolm Campbell, Sheriff" and "Finn Burnett," are included in the collection. The collection also contains Robert David's extensive personal diaries, letters and correspondence, memoirs, and “excerpts.” Some diaries and correspondence belonged to Robert David’s immediate family members, particularly his father Edward Taft David. The collection contains 12 boxes of photographs and snapshots from throughout the collection and several pieces of furniture provided by the David family.
