Dear :ir» Tuckers
Since our conference In Denver, I have been pretty
busy, covering as caich of the territory as possible, end doing
a great deal of mlsslonery work, explaining to the grov/ers in
the various tosms where I find man waiting and curious to know
Just what the plan we have to offer, might be,

I have covered about 1600 mlloc with my car and secured
quite a bit of wool, considering the newness of tli© plan and the
doubt which seemed to prevail In the minds of most of the growers
who found it liard to believe or understand that 90^ not could be
advanced with absolutely no kick-back. In the event of an over
advance.

Of coureo oui» competitors are putting out all sorts
of propaganda to point out the”nigger in the woodpile" and arouse
suspicion of the growers, which I find necessary to combat every
place I stop*
I called you on the phone some time ago, but was ln»
fonned by your office tliat you were still out In the territory
and would get in touch with me when you returned* I have been away
and so busy, and not being certain that you were in th© office, have
neglected to advise you from tine to time*

X cannot tell you exactly the tonnage that X liave secured
as I .have no record of th© contracts already forwarded to Boston.
But I am holding back at this time approxliajately 43,000 fleeces
covering 30 contracts,- for mortgage releases. Kost of those loans
were made through the ' aahakle Live Stock Loan Company of Borland
and assigned to the Federal Intermediate Credit at Omaha, making It
necessary to forward all papers to Omaha for mortgage release. In
addition to thia amount, I have secured approximately 20,000 fleeces
from the Johnson County growers which have gone forward, and I would
say In the neighborhood of 20,000 more in various places, wlilch are
also either In Boston or In the mall.

Our competitors are not doing a rushing business*
About the only thing that I am definitely sure of, la as fol
lows 1

Sllberman,- about 20,000 fleeces on consign
ment from Esponda and 3 other
Frenchmen in Euffaloj
Mahoney (who Is Bilberman’s repre
sentative at Casper) consigned his
clip of 3300 fleeces, and Mike Ellis,
3200 fleeces*

Hallowell-Jones: Has secured 1 clip, which X am
certain of,- 3,000 fleeces, belonging
to Hugh Vass at Thexnnopolls, on which
they advanced $1*00 with a promise to
buy at shearing time.

Harris & Company,st.Louis >

are offering promiscuously
19^ for the Basin wools and have approx
imately,- or did have Saturday, 5,000 fleeces

Our plan is making It rather tough for the old line
houses and their local representatives, and we, of course, are
meeting with a lot of opposition from them, but which, I am glad

to say, is easily overcome.

I am enclosing expense account, which Is not Itemized,
for I find that rather a difficult thing to do in traveling as
fast as I have been to keep ti*ack of each item. But I have classi
fied It as follows:
Clerks* fees on 10 contracts
AUto, - 1544 miles
8^
hotel, phones, Western Union
Making a total of ------

; 17.50
123.52
166.82

With reference to the above: I have put out an average
of $1.75 on evei*y contract that I have made. The Clerks require
50pf for certificate, $1.00 for recording and 25/ for each certi
fied copy of pre-.hearing application. I am not at all certain
of the number that I have put through and think, perhaps, it would
be better to wait until I can get an absolute check on same and
charge them up at $1.75 each. In addition to the above, I have
had to pay 50/ on a great many of same, fo#' a notarial seal.

will notice I have charged my auto expense at 8/ a mile.

I axil enclosing copies of an assignment of my commis

please sign and return one c py to me, retaining the other for

I am leaving in the morning for Lander and lilverton
