Description An account of the resource These photographs of Irene S. Bussey Bruns were sent to Kathy Orr--President of the Natrona County Historical Society in September of 1995--by Kathleen Brewester. Irene can be seen seated second from the right in the group who climbed up to sit on the roof of the asbestos mine cabin on Casper Mountain, noting that they were to keep out. Irene's husband, Arthur Bruns, a pioneer resident of Glenrock, snapped the photograph of Irene with the "Rev. himself" and "their boy." It is thought Arthur likely took all of these photographs. There is another photograph of their "Rev.'s" wife with their boy and Irene. The "Rev." can be seen bending over in the background with some houses in the distance. Another photograph has a letter written to Irene's nephew, Daniel. She writes, "My dear little Daniel: Oh yes, your Wyo. auntie has not forgotten you tho' she is a little late. Now be sure to see me ith your suitcase sometime. Bushels of love, Aunt Irene." The fifth photograph is of the three Sunday school teachers at Trinity Lutheran Church at Casper, Wyo. with the W.C. Rehnaldt as its pastor. This photograph was sent as a letter to Irene's sister Emma, who she sent "heaps of love" to. A faded "Made at the Picture Shop Casper, Wyo. stamp is on the back of this photograph. Irene was born in on August 22 of 1844 and died in Casper in 1942 according to the Family Group sheet. From newspaper searches, it was learned Arthur's second wife was Louise Marie Bruns. Arthur moved from Glenrock to Casper in 1914 and resided there "for many years," working in the merchantile business. These photographs may have been taken sometime in the 1930s before Arthur remarried. No reference to Irene Bruns has been found in newspaper searches at this time. It is our hope to provide these first graduates with a very special day back on the CC campus. In our efforts to welcome people back, we would like to be able to offer them all three meals on campus as well as to have them as our guests at Krampert Theatre that evening for "Guys and Dolls". I have based my proposal on approximately 125 people. As you well know, this number could go either way, depending on actual reservations which I will retrieve along about May. This number could also change depending on whether some of our faculty and staff and their spouses and retired faculty would like to dine with the Alums. I question at this point, just how far we can actually go with financing, if we can offer any of this proposal to the alums, as well as Include our own people. This is true for the play as well, since I under­ stand it will be a community effort rather than solely CC players. I realize as much as we would like to include everyone, and offer our best, that we will have to also work within limits of the CC budget. So, I put before you these ideas, and I would welcome any input you might have. The committee is presently planning guided campus tours and other "no-cost" activities to offer on reunion day. If we are not able to provide part or all of the proposed, then I will immediately get to work contacting the alums with prices, etc. so they will know in advance what their costs will be. The repository currently uses ArchiveSpace software to create and manage information for collection finding aids. What are finding aids? Finding aids are dual purpose guides for users and archivists and if utilized correctly, powerful tools for research. Finding aids, or collection guides, assist archivists in managing and recording administrative and descriptive information for collections. When selecting individual items to view either within a collection or from the “Browse Item” tab, the user will be brought to that item’s page which will present first the item’s viewable media content (JPG, PDF, etc.) and then the item’s metadata information. Scrolling to the bottom, the user may navigate to the next item. The best way to navigate items within a specific collection is to move back and forth between the individual item’s page and the previous collection page listing its collection-specific items using the browser page’s back button. To view the item’s media, the user can directly select the image or thumbnail at the top of the item’s page. This will show the image file or document in a browser viewer. To exit the viewer, select the backspace arrow in the top left.
