An account of the resource
This photograph is part of a collection that consists of photographs and negatives created and/or used by the Casper Star Tribune from 1967 until the middle of 1995 according to a newspaper article on the donation from February of 2000. In the words of Special Collections Curator, Kevin Anderson, the photographs in this collection serve to document "events in our own lives, events in our own history." There were 19,000 envelopes that were gifted to the repository, which totaled between 330,000 and 460,000 images. Images in this collection may support the use of other collections in the repository or vice versa.

For a week, after his tenth birthday, a raven sat outside Garret’s
bedroom window. The bird clung to the branch of an elm tree.
He cried, K-Caw. K-Caw. Garret’s mother wondered out loud if
the bird had lost someone. She said, “It sounds like he is calling
somebody.” Garret drew a picture of a raven with a black pencil.
His mom taped the paper to the bark of the tree. In the morning,
they found the image gone. A feather took its place under the
tape. He kept it in a box for sixty seven years. Nowit is nighttime
in the nursing home. He sleeps with the feather on his bed stand.
At sunrise, his aid knocks on the door. She finds the room empty,
except for a raven on the sill of an open window. Garret holds his
place for a moment. He spreads his wings, for practice. Then he
cakes a step and the wind lifts him from the ledge.

Roy B. Minty was a livestock broker out of Casper, WY. His office was located in the lobby of the Henning Hotel. Researchers will find letters and telegrams exchanged between Minty and Draper and Draper Incorporated Wool out of Boston, Massachusetts among other items of potential interest to the sheep and wool industry in Wyoming during the 1930s. Minty's papers consist of correspondence, data on Wyoming sheep ranchers from 1934, correspondence in regard to the Careyhust Ranch from 1937-1939, information on a Wind River Day School lamb sale, as well as ledgerbooks, settlement slips, bills of sale, contracts, agreements, and more. These records date from the late 1920s to the late 1930s.

with John J« Sullivan.
Li*. Leo Dunn, who released the ;..ortgafee on Sullivan’s
wool, was a little skeptical about doing so, after reading the
contract wMch allows the gro.zer to withdraw any time by so indi
cating his wish to do so, between the 15th and the Slat day of
.Ally, any given year.
He was wondering if, by signing the mortgage release this
year, if it might become obligatory with his bank to continue to
release it Indefinitely. Or if It Just applied for th© current
year. Will you please give mo this information?
Also, I am asked a hundred times a day what method will
be used in appraising the wools at sheering time. This seems to
be a great line for our corapetltora, who like to leave the im
pression with growers that that’s the "nigger In th© woodpile". *
Of course I have been unable to give them any definite
information on this point and have suggested that possibly a
blanket value might be placed on the various counties,, where
wools are more or loss similar, by striking un average value,
. and in the event of an ei*ror being made either for or aInst
any particular clip. It mlgiit easily be adjusted la Boston, where
the wools are properly graded, and If a difference occurt.. It could
then be either charged or credited to the grower. However, I have
not put this out as definite, but simply to combat the lino of

talk put out by our competitors. So, if you can give me something
definite on this, the last stumbling block will be removed.

Description
An account of the resource
Roy B. Minty was a livestock broker out of Casper, WY. His office was located in the lobby of the Henning Hotel. Researchers will find letters and telegrams exchanged between Minty and Draper and Draper Incorporated Wool out of Boston, Massachusetts among other items of potential interest to the sheep and wool industry in Wyoming during the 1930s. Minty's papers consist of correspondence, data on Wyoming sheep ranchers from 1934, correspondence in regard to the Careyhust Ranch from 1937-1939, information on a Wind River Day School lamb sale, as well as ledgerbooks, settlement slips, bills of sale, contracts, agreements, and more. These records date from the late 1920s to the late 1930s.
