This picture of the City of Casper Police Department
was taken in the early 1930s, possibly in 1932.
The identi
fications are as I recall the individuals, and the spelling
is also from memory.
In the middle row I was unsure ofjptfeo standing fourth
and fifth from the

Shortly after the picture was taken, two of the men
were brought before the Grand Jury on charges of allowing
illegal trafficing of liquor to and from Casper in vio
lation of the Volstead Act.
Subsequently they were removed
from their positions of authority.
They were Mayor Earl
Rowell and Police Chief Mike Quealey.

by Sheriff Gilbert Housley after Housley had left office
and purchased the Townsend Hotel and Natrona Motors.
Housley
also had been brought before the Grand Jury but I’m unsure

Gilliam goes on to recall, <br /><br />"This picture of the City of Casper Police Department was taken in the early 1930s, possibly i n1932. Description
An account of the resource
Photographs of historic Casper, Wyoming that were collected by or otherwise reproduced and used by Chuck Morrison. The historic photographs appear to date from approximately 1892 to 1913. Morrison's own photographs of Casper and beyond date from approximately 1950 to 1972 after he served in WWII. His active use of these photographs is thought to have been after he returned from WWII. This series of photographs contains photographs Morrison took himself it is thought towards the end. The photographs have been added to this digital collection in roughly chronological order.

Photograph of advertisement for the Kistler Tent and Awning Co. painted on the side of a brick building. The sign advertises sheep wagon covers, herders tepees, lambing tents, sleeping bags, bed tarps and fishing & camping supplies. This photograph could have been taken by Chuck Morrison when he returned to Casper, Wyoming after serving in WWII. The advertisement was made by Cody Signs.

Description
An account of the resource
The Alfred J. Mokler Papers consist of holograph manuscripts, which is to say, manuscripts written in the author's hand, and typescripts from the Works Progress Administration's Federal Writer's Project which date to the 1930's. Much of this material may be found in Mokler's notebooks. In addition, researchers will find Mokler's unpublished typescript of a Chronology of Wyoming written for the Works Progress Administration. Material from some of these pages was used in Wyoming: A Guide to its History, Highways, and People. Mokler's papers also consist of approximately 300 original photographs, many of which were used in his publications. There are 15 scrapbooks of newspaper clippings, personal diaries and yearbooks, and 10 Letterboxes, of which contain publications and other materials Mokler collected as well as correspondence. Copies of Annals of Wyoming and books from Mokler's library were also gifted to the repository. Researchers will find a lot of Casper and Natrona County history in Mokler's papers.
