This collection contains letters David R. Sutherland sent to his family while in the United States Navy and at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania between 1945 and 1946, and photographs of David, his family, and friends. David R. Sutherland, according to the obituary published in the Casper Star-Tribune in 2013, was born in Greybull, Wyoming, in 1927 to L.D. "Si" and Clara Lewis Sutherland. He served in the Navy during WWII, was in the first graduating class of Casper College, and went on to attend Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania before graduating from Denver University. Upon returning to Wyoming, he married Joan Hurd in 1954 and opened an accounting firm in Casper. He was the founder and president of Data Processors, Inc., and was heavily involved in several local Casper organizations throughout his life.

This record group contains meeting minutes, notes, programming, correspondence, photographs, and a few newspaper clippings used for the purpose of the 1987 Cas[er College Class Reunion. Materials were created or otherwise used by the Casper College Foundation and Alumni Association and the Colleg Relations Department. Researchers will find an address recalling the life and times of the 1935 graduating class titled, "A Different World, but in Many Ways the Best of Times," read by Agatha Bast Ledin. Also included is a "Meet the 1947-1948 Thunderbirds" program. There are 103 photographic prints. Individuals photographed include Dr. LeRoy Strausner and Bill Landen. Other photographs show the reunion celebration, class photographs, some classroom learning, and an early College Cafeteria crew. Materials date from approximately 1947 to 1987.

Photograph of E.J Huber standing in front of a stove as found in a Casper Star-Tribune photograph folder on the Sand Bar. This folder contains photographs of the people and places in Casper's old Sand Bar. It is part of a collection that consists of photographs and negatives created and/or used by the Casper Star Tribune from 1967 until the middle of 1995 according to a newspaper article on the donation from February of 2000. In the words of Special Collections Curator, Kevin Anderson, the photographs in this collection serve to document "events in our own lives, events in our own history." There were 19,000 envelopes that were gifted to the repository, which totaled between 330,000 and 460,000 images. Images in this collection may support the use of other collections in the repository or vice versa.
