The firstborn son of Jane Elizabeth (Cummin) Blackmore (1839-1873) and Walter Albert Blackmore (1826-1891), Walter A. Blackmore was a prominent resident of early Casper. He had come to Bessemer, Wyoming from Flint, Michigan, in 1888 where he established a drug store. In 1893, he moved to the Casper area and acquired the Hat Six Ranch in 1895. The family moved into the growing town in 1902, and he held his mayoral campaign in 1919. He served as Casper’s mayor from 1920 until his death in a 1923 train accident that also severely injured his son, Robert Blackmore, who survived him.]]></dcterms:description>
