"sonnet 5?. The sonnet reflects the platonic idea that all beautiful objects merely reflect the more perfect ideal forms of which they are emana­
tions. Here the poet’s friend is made to represent the ideal. 2 strange
shadows images or reflections which are not a part of your own being.
