Elements appear at end. Identifying them is important. [The four elements—water, earth, air, and fire—were identified with the four humours in the human body—phlegm, black bile, blood, and yellow bile.]
’43 Mary crowned at Stirling Castle
’43 Treaty of Greenwich—Mary [Queen of Scots] to be wed to Edw.
Maybe this is a moon metaphor
Illusion more agreeable than truth about her

SONNET 44
’44 Mary restored to succession
(water) phlegm is cold + moist
(earth) black bile melancholy cold + dry
Mercury was insignia worn by Burleigh
