Its admin­ istration involves many legal problems and the handling of millions of dollars annually. Be­ fore- qualifying, the treasurer, therefore, must be bonded under the law in the sum of $100,000—a bond equal to that required of the state treasurer—and, it is not necessary to call attention of voters to the rigid requirements of such a bond, and of the importance of se­ lecting one who can qualify. Rarely does any one seek this office in the various counties throughout the state until the incumbent has served the only two terms allowed by law, provided the officer is competent and efficient. Evidently it was the intention of the citizens, speaking through the state legislature, to profit by the experience of a com­ petent treasurer. Miss Pearl Massee qualified for the office two years ago ^er four yea,rs’ experience, as a deputy /tfcasujer ctrtrtjty. And, the report of the state examiners, after auditing her bool^s, attest her extraordin-ary efficiency as the treasurer of this coun­ ty during the past two years. They reported to the state banking examiner (quoting from the report): “The County Treasurer’s books and rec­ ords were found to be excellently kept * * ’ showing carefulness and accuracy seldom found.” Her selection of competent clerks helped to make this record possible. Each of these clerks is the head of a family; 22 persons are entirely dependent upon them for their support. Pearl Massee has been a resident of Natrona coun­ ty for the past 17 years. Since she was 18 she has been the sole support of her family. She resides with her mother at 113 North Beech street. It is suggested that because of her efficient rec­ ord she is deserving of support, and that it is a good business proposition for the taxpayers that she be elected to her second and last term.
