Description

Plate 15 from the Castle Garden collection

A complex but badly eroded panel of shields and tool-grooves. Many of these designs are barely recognizable. The two shields to the right are the best preserved. The extreme right hand shield has a bird for a central design, and several tool-grooves have been deeply cut. Above this shield appears a full-face view of a man with head-dress and below the shield the legs are shown. Actually it is a man behind the shield. The shield to the left of this figure is the same thing-a man behind it and also carrying a lance with feathered end. Tool-grooves and other designs are upon it. The designs below this symbol are quite similar to the rain symbols of the Southwest.
