Description

The counties of Weston and Big Horn were created by the eleventh legislative assembly in March of 1890, just before Wyoming achieved statehood that July. This map by George F. Cram of Chicago shows the new counties, bringing the total to thirteen. The Freemont, Elkhorn, and Missouri railroad reaches Casper, and not yet to Lander, its termination, until 1906. The Burlington and Missouri railroad traverses the Northwest corner as far as Sheridan, on its way towards Billings, Montana.
