Description

Photograph of a group in front of the old Bostelman & Kimball Pioneer Drug Company store. The individuals pictured are presumed to be C. F. G. Bostelman, Wilson S. Kimball, Dr. John F. Leeper, Mrs. Kimball (Edness Merrick Kimball?) and sister Blanche Merrick, Frieda Van Thulan (Frieda Van Thulan Rhoades, sister of Mrs. Carl Bostelman Rhoades), F. B. Harrison of Glenrock, Myron Congdon, Missou Hines, Trapper Edwards, Charles Eads. One of the women pictured may instead be Mrs. Jack Mcgrath. According to Wyoming Tales and Trails, "An early operator of the drugstore was C.F.G. Bostleman. After the move to Center Street, W. S. Kimball became a partner and later acquired the whole store when Bostleman sold his interest. Kimball was a registered pharmacist, sold jewelry and advertised that he was the 'official watch examiner for the C & N.W.Ry.' The store advertised, among other things, remedies for "Constipation and the Concomitant Evils of Impacted Feces." In 1894 Kimball bought out Bostleman's interest in the store." The Frances Seely Webb Collection contains over 1,400 photographs, correspondence, handwritten research notes, the proof copy of Webb's book, Casper's First Homes, and a series of scrapbooks. Materials documents Casper buildings, cultural institutions, homes, and society from 1890-1978. Also included are photographs of individuals and groups visually documenting Casper society. In addition are items originally collected by Boney Earnest, a frontiersman and former member of the Natrona County Historical Society. Subjects documented in Webb’s correspondence, notebooks, and scrapbooks include things related to her ongoing research, obituaries, Casper and Natrona County homes, businesses, and cultural institutions.
