Below these shields is a complex panel, of which several figures resemble hide stretchers and an arrowshaft may be recognized below the third shield. The sandstone here is eroded and peeling. Description An account of the resource Plate 14 from the Castle Garden collection A panel depicting four shields and an Anthropomorphic figure. The upper left hand shield is a simple design of an oblong bar with a circle on each side. Beside it appears the figure of a man. The upper right hand shield bears two turtles, similar to the others at Castle Gardens, and a snake-like figure. It is natural to suppose that the shield had four turtles in each quarter before erosion removed the right two turtles. The two lower shields have designs of a symbolic nature and are too worn to for recohnition. Note how visitors have defaced the sandstone. Description An account of the resource Plate 15 from the Castle Garden collection A complex but badly eroded panel of shields and tool-grooves. Many of these designs are barely recognizable. The two shields to the right are the best preserved. The extreme right hand shield has a bird for a central design, and several tool-grooves have been deeply cut. Above this shield appears a full-face view of a man with head-dress and below the shield the legs are shown. Actually it is a man behind the shield. The shield to the left of this figure is the same thing-a man behind it and also carrying a lance with feathered end. Tool-grooves and other designs are upon it. The designs below this symbol are quite similar to the rain symbols of the Southwest.
