According to Wyoming Tales and Trails, &quot;Metcalf &amp; Williams, a drygoods store, was reputedly the first commercial building in Casper. It was establish by George W. Metcalf who moved to Casper from Ft. Fetterman where he had operated a similar business. After relocation, Metcalf and C. C. P. Webel became partners and the business was re-named as the Webel Mercantile Company.&quot; The Frances Seely Webb Collection contains over 1,400 photographs, correspondence, handwritten research notes, the proof copy of Webb&#039;s book, Casper&#039;s First Homes, and a series of scrapbooks. According to Wyoming Tales and Trails, &quot;The Wyoming Derrick was Casper&#039;s first newspaper, established in May 1890. Its name reflects that a year before oil had been discovered in nearby Salt Creek. Its first editor was W. S. Kimball. After a year, Kimball sold his interest and purchased a half interest in the Pioneer Drug Store. After numerous changes of ownership and editors, the paper ceased publication in 1906.&quot; ]]></dcterms:description>
