’53—James freed from those who held him (Is it Bothwell?)
’83 Alencon seizes Antwerp from his Dutch allies
’83—Duke of Guise contacts Eng, is[?] assass of E.—perhaps Wm. Parry
Dr. Dee had a “show stone” (mystic)
Life better than report in poem
Truth of life should be enough
About this yr. that Leic. intr[oduced] Essex—17-yr-old—in court
Sydney knighted + married
By ’84 D should have been at Oxford
’83 Auden + Somerville executed
Plot to kill E.

’84 Ral. [illegible] pat[?] for colon. in Am.—Virginia named for E.
Mary makes over her rights to Philip
’84—Q expels Mendoza from Engl.
84 Creighton—at sea—document—blown back on deck
84 Death of Wm. of Orange
’84—Act of Parl.: Plotters agst life of E.[;] forfeit claim to throne + so do their descendants if they are aware
’84—Mendoza expelled; Ass. of Wm. Or. makes Council decide to go to war
’47 Wrothesley—ardent Catholic—Lord Chancellor; removed from Council by Somerset
