’81—Act of Parl. made Cath. affiliation
June ’81 Capt. Campion was wracked after refusal to abjure Pope
’81—Jesuit—Campion—tortured + executed[;] wracked, revealed “no things of secret[.]” Exec. Dec. with 2 others at Tyborn[.] Campion wished Q. “a long quiet reign with all prosperity.”
’81—Exec of Morton—Sc. regent for James
‘—Duke—Knighted[.] Circumnavigation of globe? E. ordered Golden Hind into [illegible] to be in “perpetual memory” in Deptford[?]
May ’81—Alencon tries to come to Eng, but prev. by storm at sea. Oct.—arrives. Nov.—marr. promise
’81—Alencon again in Eng
’82—Departs unmarried!
’81 Penelope comes to court—betr[othed to] Rich[ard]

I believe Essex was suitor for Eliz.
Wm. Wentworth marries Cecil’s daughter
“James” recuse “from Cath.” given Pros. influence
’82 James kidnapped; Lennox ordered out of country; but then James Stewart (Arran) + Archbish of St. Andr defeated too
“Time-Lettering,” days—she loved to be told of her youth—took mirrors out of palace
